Job Summary:
The Machinist – CNC 4 & 5 Axis is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining advanced CNC milling and lathe machines to support high-precision manufacturing operations. The role requires strong technical competency in machining processes, blueprint interpretation, tooling optimisation, and quality control within a precision engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC 4-axis and 5-axis milling/lathe machines, including machines such as DMG Mori, Haas, Mazak, and You Ji
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation accurately
- Load raw materials, perform machine setup, and ensure proper tooling configuration before production runs
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection tools
- Optimise and adjust machine settings, tooling parameters, and tool paths to ensure dimensional accuracy and required surface finish quality
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot machining or equipment issues during production
- Monitor machining performance and ensure production output meets quality and delivery requirements
- Maintain accurate production records, machine logs, and inspection reports
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Production teams on process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives
- Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, operational standards, and shop floor best practices
- Perform any ad-hoc duties or assignments assigned by Supervisor
Job Requirement
- Minimum NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline
- At least 3–5 years of hands-on experience in CNC milling and/or lathe machining
- Experience in high-precision manufacturing environments such as semiconductor, medical, aerospace, or defense industries is an advantage
- Proficient in operating CNC 4-axis and 5-axis machines
- Familiar with CNC machine brands such as DMG Mori, Haas, Mazak, and You Ji
- Knowledge of G-code programming and operation of CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent
- Skilled in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, GD&T requirements, and CAD/CAM files
- Familiar with tooling selection, feeds & speeds calculation, and tool wear compensation techniques
- Strong problem-solving skills and troubleshooting capability in machining operations
- Good communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong attention to detail, quality mindset, and commitment to workplace safety
- Willing to work in the East region (Changi North Crescent, Singapore)
